Since being admitted to practice law in 2017, Raul has worked exclusively in family law handling cases such as contested and uncontested divorces, child custody, spousal support and child support, property division, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). Raul is also a family law mediator, and he received his mediation training at the Family Resolution Institute in San Diego in 2019.
Raul graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in Downtown San Diego. During his time in law school, Raul volunteered with Alliance San Diego to assist immigrants with the preparation of documents. He also interned for the Veteran’s Legal Assistance Clinic where he helped homeless veterans with their criminal and family law related matters. In addition, he interned for the Family Law Facilitator’s office at the South Bay Courthouse where he assisted self-represented litigants with their divorce packets and helped with the Spanish divorce workshop.
Born and raised in San Diego, Raul Maravilla is a first-generation American who is the first in his family to attend college. His parents were born in Mexico, and he prides himself of his Mexican cultural background. As a fluent Spanish speaker, he thrives to bridge legal gaps by providing access to justice to the underrepresented communities
Raul received his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in Chicano Studies from San Diego State University. He then obtained his paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego where he worked at various firms before attending Thomas Jefferson School of Law in Downtown San Diego.
In 2015, Raul received the San Diego Family Law Bar Association’s Bonnie Nelson Reading Memorial Scholarship, an award given to a law student who demonstrates an affinity for family law. Since then, Raul has been named a Rising Star in San Diego County by Super Lawyers and is an active member of the San Diego Family Law Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association, and the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association.
During his free time, he loves to spend time with his family and exploring new hiking trials in San Diego County.
